Today's Progress

Bride Corset Progress 25%
Mapped out boning casings today. Not too much work done, but this is a very important step. I will be taking a small break from work for the rest of this week since I've got to finish getting everything together for my daughters first birthday!

Sweetheart Prototype Corset Progress 85%
Cut plastic reinforcing bones today. The tips need to be smoothed with a torch and then the corset needs to be bound and finished!

Orient Prototype Underbust/Cincher Progress 95%
All that is left to be done is the ribbon binding to be sewn down on the inside and pressed. I will reset the eyelets once the proper dies arrive, but in the mean time, once it's finished, it can be modeled for my catalog!

Melanie Custom Ensemble #01 Progress 10%
Started initial sketches so I can map out patterns and fabric yardages.

"Bride" Corset progress

The progress on this current project is as follows!

Completion Progress 20%

The other day I stitched the ribbon over the seams where the black Oriental Brocade and Lavender satin met, strengthening the structure of the satin and lowered the armpit's down about an inch on each side for comfort. Today I will be working on boning casings and hopefully stitching around the top to reinforce the top when the boning is inserted.

In other news, still waiting for the replacement dies to be shipped out for my setter. The manufacturer is supposed to be sending them to me directly. Hopefully they will arrive soon so I can work on putting in an order for a 1/4" die, 3/16" eyelets and the rest of the products I need. I will be purchasing in the future dies for rivets and rhinestones so I can embelish future products without having to always sew on sequins, or hand set rivets. And hopefully I'll be getting orders so I can make money, and fund the process of making money!

Current Workload, projects and more!

My first posting on this blog! This blog is for showing current status on projects, orders and the debut of new design sketches and finished product. Today's posting will include progress on projects and perhaps some previews of in-progress designs.

Currently, I'm working on repairing a few corsets, working on finishing quite a few, working on a redesign of one of my first corsets, working on some special outfits for a friend, and working on drafting up corsets for friends I owe something to :)

  • Current Repairs
  • Madeline, "Bride" Progress 10%; corset is deconstructed, boning casings removed and ready for repair work to begin
  • Jez "Abigail" Progress 0%; have not yet begun to redo the binding or re-sewn the applique. Work will begin soon!
  • Current Projects
  • Melanie, two corsets (designs undecided), various custom outfits Progress 1%; I've started working out fabrics, patterns and costs for outfits, and deciding on the corset styles to make.
  • Krista, Corset (design undecided) Progress 0%; not yet begun, but will soon!
  • Meg, "Lillith" Progress 80%; needs finishing work, boning, eyelets, false front buttons sewn.
  • Various Corsets for sale Progress 50%; these corsets are for sale, and have yet to be finished due to boning needing to be measured and cut, eyelets set and finishing touches.
  • 1940's inspired Swing style dress, Progress 10%; Pattern configured, fabric cut.
  • Current Designs
  • Buckle Club Skirt, redesign of the "Anna" underbust corset and a few other corset designs.
This is currently what I'm working on... my corsets are kindof at a stand still due to waiting for my press to arrive in the mail. I also need to purchase a 1/4" die, and 3/16" eyelets. I will be working with 3/16" and 1/4" grommets/eyelets from now on, depending on the strength needed in the corset. For smaller projects, I may continue to use 1/8", but we will see.
