"You seduce me with the sound of underground"

Today was a productive day! I don't have pictures but I do have updates :)

I worked on one of my orders, the Sweetheart Anchor corset. I've got it to the point where only three things remain: setting the grommets, cut and tip the boning, and finish the bottom. Easy-peasy! So tonight I will be measuring for the boning and possibly cutting it.

On my repair on the fabric where the fabric began to fray, I have it to the point where it just needs to be finished with hand stitching. I'm confident I fixed the problem and I added a few more bones to it, to give it a little extra support. When I first made it, I ran out of boning and didn't have the funds to buy more, so I just finished it, but it's a bit fortunate that it needed a minor repair, that way I could add in more of the boning!

I also finished the reworking of my Elsa Vest corset. I need to try it on to make sure it works out right this time. When I first made it, I did it incorrectly, but now I'm pretty sure it will fit properly. Strapped underbust corsets are a bit of a pain, but they look awesome.

Here in the next few weeks, I'm planning on making some more corsets to have on display at the Dark Dreams on October 1st, and definately some for models to show off. I'm working on getting ideas for what I'd like to do, I'm aiming to do something that will fit with the theme of the event, which is Carnival Cabaret.

Updates, Updates, Updates!

Today I finished the wedding dress comission I had, and its sent off. Yay for completed projects! :) I do not have any pictures, at the request of the bride. When the wedding pictures arrive, I will post them then!

Now my work load includes a repair, a revamp, an order for two corsets and I've got a couple of prototypes I'm itching to work on. As well as a two piece outfit I want to make, then sell.

One of the prototypes I want to work on is a bit selfishly motivated. It's my take on a 1940's style girdle, or "long line" bra, corselette, whatever you'd like to call it... but its an underbust so it can be worn with your own bra. I will have stretchy insets, two on the top front, and four along the bottom, two in front, and two in back with six garter straps. I plan to use a zipper in the front for ease of getting in and out, and lacing in the back for proper cinching.

I've got the pattern drafted up, and the fabric picked out. I'll keep updating on my progress with this one!

I've been fabric hunting as of late for my Sweetheart design. While Cherry pattern material is aplenty, the navy blue with white anchors is not. So if I don't find anything when I manage to make it up to Helena, I have a back up plan: navy blue twill or possibly denim, with the white straps and an anchor applique. I ordered four large vintage anchor appliques off of Etsy.com and we'll see how that pans out. Now I've tried looking online for this pattern I want, or something even remotely similar, but I've had no luck. I found something on eBay, but its way too expensive to consider unfortunately, and it only comes in 1/2 yard increments to boot. For that price? I'll pass.

For the Dark Dreams in October, I want to make a two-piece outfit to be modeled on my dress form display, and to eventually sell. The sketch is a bit wonky, but I believe it gets the point across: I want to make a Bride/Hybrid corset with removable sleeves, and a Willamehna Bustle Pencil Skirt to match. I want to make this out of grey satin with black lace along the bottom of the skirt, and black roses on the bustle. I don't know why I had this sudden inspiration to make this, but it came to be one night when I was working on the wedding dress made of grey satin.

I want to make it with a busk, and I want to make it based off of someone who is tall and slender, someone with a very Victorian look. For some reason, even though its not very historical, I see Victorian women as taller, and of course, slender. How else could they get down to 15" waists? Crazy. And dangerous. Eepers.

Busy, Busy Lady

Today I worked all day on finishing the Wedding Dress order I have. And it's almost there! All I have left on it is done by hand, though I may break out the machine into the bedroom and use it for one thing. All I have to do is the hem, sew snaps for the modesty plate and finish the laces. I'll need to iron and steam it, but then after that, all finished! Then I'll be free to work on other orders.

Right now my current workload after the wedding dress is two corsets for a client, and repairs on another. The particular repairs I'll need to do, bother me. Not because of the repairs themselves, but because of the fabric. I love Chinese Satin Brocade, but sometimes it presents a problem. It frays alot. This is something I'm going to have to find a remedy for before I offer the fabric in any of my designs. This is actually the second time the fabric has frayed like this. One of my corsets did the exact same thing, I just never fixed it because I barely wear that one.

Those are the current updates, I've been a little slow with updating, but hopefully I'll be able to keep on top of my blog better! I'm still trying to figure out a photo shoot/session for my webpage. It's just sitting there, pictureless! :(

"Begin the beguine"

So I've been on the busy side lately, when I'm not laying around being sickly. A minor set back, but tomorrow the hubby has the day off so he can help me with a munchkin and I can continue work on the Wedding Dress.

Wedding Dress for Steph 30%

Which is coming along nicely. I need to cut a new center piece for it, but after I do that I'll work on cleaning up the seams, make the lacing bits for the back and work on marrying the lining to the gown, as well as get some boning for support sewn into the lining. I think I may open the back up a little to allow for a cleaner lace up look as well. There will be a modesty plate underneat the laces that she can choose to wear if she likes.

So far I'm very pleased with how its turning out. Tomorrow if I get the chance, I'll take more pictures to post for progress.

Today I recieved the deposits for the corsets I'll be making for another Stephanie. :) I know alot of Stephanie's! It works out, I have alot of friends who have a ton of friends named Jessica.
