Now that MisCon is overwith this year, I can return my focus to the box of unfinished corsets I have in my sewing things, and to other projects/orders.
Today, while there where massive sales at JoAnn's, I purchased fabric for one of the outfits I'm making custom for my friend Melanie. The prices were too good to pass up, so I dipped into some of my savings and she will reimburse me when she can. So far I have just about everything except for the corset boning and binding, but that won't be needed until the end of construction, so all is well.
The fabric I picked out will, I think, look awesome on her. She did pick out the material for the skirt since I did fabric "recon" and emailed her pictures of the choices. The dark brown with a leaf pattern cotton will be used for the top portion of the bodice. The brown next to it, the faux suede fabric will be used for the corset. And finally the lovely leafy green patterned flowing material will be used for the wrap skirt, and the short sleeves.
Since the sales were too awesome to pass up, I did splurge a little on some fabric for myself/Lily.
This fabric actually matches some fleece I bought to make her a blanket (I still haven't made it, imagine that). The center fabric actually matches it exactly. My plans are to make her some little summery dress tops to wear with capri pants or leggings. It works really well since she loves all of those things! Turtles, frogs, and especially ducks!
This fabric I bought to make her a Halloween blanket, :) I'm going to get either black or yellow blanket binding and some sort of backing, be it a satin or even just a plain cotton and maybe do some white stitching around the ghosties, just to give it a neat effect. But we will see!Tomorrow Adam has the day off so I'm going to have him watch our little girl so I can get to work on starting to draft up a corset pattern for Melanie, then work on the skirt. So excited for progress! :)
